Our Story

The Cedar Hill S.T.R.I.V.E. Academy is a comprehensive program that offers the traditional Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) setting serving students in 1st thru 12th grades and also a non-Disciplinary Program serving as a drop-out prevention and credit recovery program. The program will be designed specifically for students in crisis or at-risk situations.

  • The program offers courses for students overaged and significantly behind in credits.
  • The instructional program is a self-paced computer program (Edgenuity) which offers students the ability to complete high school course work online.
  • The program focuses on the individual student and uses small group tutoring.

Program Overview

The S.T.R.I.V.E. Academy operates on a Modified Day: The student school day will be designed to stay for up to a maximum of four (4) hours per session (8:00 am – 11:30 am M-F) and a second session of students from (12:00 pm – 3:30 pm M-F). STRIVE is a self-paced computer based program to allow students the ability to complete high school course work. Students enrolled in this program will use the Edgenuity Computer Program and shall receive a grade of 80 for each course completed. Credit for the course will be placed on the student’s transcript with an indication that it is for the Edgenuity Program. The grades for Edgenuity will not be considered for grade point average (GPA) or class rank for the student.

When students have completed all credit requirements for graduation, they no longer have to attend class. Students are required to pass the STAAR and EOC exams prior to graduation. If students have completed all credit requirements and are no longer required to attend class, but have not passed STAAR or EOC, they will still be mandated to attend STAAR and EOC tutorials sessions. Cedar Hill STRIVE Academy follows the Cedar Hill ISD calendar. There is no charge for this program.
